WASHINGTON, DC., March 12th, 2026 – SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change appeared in The Washington Post. “Conservatives want schools to teach this strict life path they say avoids poverty” explores the “success sequence”, a rigid and oversimplified model for young people in the real-world and the brainchild of The Heritage Foundation: 1. Graduate from high school; 2. Find a full-time job; 3. Get married before having kids. The “success sequence” is further explained in our 2026 Legislative Look-Ahead.
National reports for The Washington Post, Lauren Lumpkin and Praveena Somasundaram, spoke with Senior Policy Analyst, Nawal Umar. “There’s nothing wrong, inherently, with instructing on parenting or promoting educational attainment. But … it’s only okay when it’s being presented as an option.”
