Sex Education Report Card
Sex education in the United States is a patchwork of state and local policies that dictate what, if any, sexual health instruction is taught within schools across the country. As a result, access to quality and comprehensive knowledge about sexual and reproductive health is largely influenced by the zip code young people live in.

2026 Legislative Look-Ahead
The 2026 Legislative Look Ahead, wraps up legislative, appropriations, electoral, and advocacy updates post mid-year report released in August 2025, and projects the political landscape for advancing sex education and the rights of young people in order to inform advocacy and policy strategy in the upcoming year.

Sexual Health in the States: A Policy Heat Map Series
To complement our Sex Ed State Report Cards and Profiles, the SIECUS Policy Team developed a series of heat maps that cover other sexual and reproductive health policy areas that intersect with the movement to advance sex education, such as abortion access, LGBTQIA+ issues, HIV criminalization, and sexual assault prevention.

Sex Education Legislation Tracker
Across the country, lawmakers are introducing a new wave of bills that directly shape what young people are allowed to learn about their bodies, relationships, and health.

Mandatory Ultrasound Video Viewing in Sex Ed
These mandates are not grounded in best practices for sex education. Rather than providing comprehensive, age-appropriate, and evidence-based instruction, these mandates politicize the classroom, undermine medical accuracy, and replace real education with ideological content.

The Fight for Facts: Defending Access to Comprehensive Sex Education from the Anti-Abortion Agenda
Collaborating with the Guttmacher Institute, SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change released “The Fight for Facts”, a policy brief examining the new frontline for attacks on reproductive autonomy: the sex ed classroom.
